My Complaint Against GEICO is on the Docket for the Illinois Department of Insurance

My Complaint Against GEICO is on the Docket for the Illinois Department of Insurance.

I filed a complaint against GEICO with the State of Illinois Department of Insurance, which is the same agency that helped investigate my sister-in-law when she took out a fraudulent life insurance policy on my spouse and forged his signature.

GEICO has been losing money hand over fist in Illinois and is looking for illegal means to squeeze us, apparently, rather than to just raise rates.

They’re sending out emails asking for updated odometer readings, “or else” they’ll just jack up your mileage to the state average. Then, even if you respond to the email, they’ll do that anyway to take more profit.

They’re already being sued in Chicago for running illegally lousy rebate programs during the COVID lockdowns, and now this.

Illinois Department of Insurance 320 W. Washington Street Springfield, IL 62767

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to file a complaint against GEICO Secure Insurance Company NAIC: 14137 in regard to automotive policy [REDACTED] in effect between [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] from Ryan Farmer and [REDACTED] as the named insured.

The complaint is in regards to an email that GEICO Secure sent to Ryan Farmer on 2/3/2023 under subject heading “Important notice about your GEICO Auto policy” wanting Ryan Farmer to provide an updated odometer reading for his [REDACTED], and stating that the annual mileage quoted for the renewal would be increased to 12,500 if Ryan Farmer failed to reply to the email.

Ryan Farmer replied to the email and stated that his annual mileage was closer to 6,500-7,000 miles per year. However, despite receiving this information, GEICO Secure Insurance Company proceeded to draft a renewal letter assuming 12,500 miles and leading to a total six month premium of $551.29.

It was only after Ryan Farmer called GEICO Secure Insurance Company on 3/28/2023 and spoke with an agent, that the policy was corrected, bringing the premium down to $513.94.

Ryan Farmer believes that GEICO Secure Insurance Company is possibly acting in bad faith in order to squeeze Illinois automotive insurance customers out of money that GEICO Secure Insurance Company is not rightly entitled to in a scheme of unjust enrichment.

Therefore, I respectfully request that the Illinois Department of Insurance and the Illinois State Attorney General’s office open an investigation into the business practices of GEICO Secure Insurance Company in order to protect the rights and finances of Illinois consumers under any and all applicable state laws and regulations.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Ryan Farmer

The next day I received this.
