Some users on Reddit report that Windows 11 breaks NordVPN.

They lose all network connectivity when trying to connect to the VPN.

Apparently, setting the DNS to some other DNS servers restores Internet connectivity, but now you have a DNS leak.

So have fun with that.

More Windows 11 bugs that weren’t even in Windows 10, which was already bad enough by itself.

So amazing.

What? I can’t hear you over my Debian 11 working just fine thank you very much.

One of the “anti-Linux” trolls who manages to frequent Phoronix with nothing better to do mentioned the other day that Wine was pointless because you could just use Windows applications on Windows.

Aside from the fact that Windows breaks compatibility with Windows applications you have been happy with for years (or sometimes even current stuff, like when they release an unimportant upgrade to Windows just to keep the licensing money coming in, and everything wigs out and takes years to settle down again just barely enough to work), we’re fully well aware that GNU/Linux is not Windows and may not run everything from Windows in Wine just perfectly, or without some work. But that’s okay, because much of it does work, and we have our own software that also works.

At a minimum, the OS isn’t flipping out and screwing itself up all the time and leaving you wondering things like why your NordVPN suddenly doesn’t work at all.

In fact, NordVPN’s “Linux” client is so much more pleasant than Windows. It’s literally set and forget.

Once you have it installed per their instructions it’s

nordvpn c

nordvpn set autoconnect on

nordvpn set killswitch on

DONE

I don’t really know how Microsoft managed to break something that just uses Wintun and I got off that crazy ride before Windows 11 even landed, so I don’t have to figure it out. Thank God.
